PTSA - Parent Teacher Student Association
PTSA every child. one voice.
PTSA can be an important element in enhancing your child’s educational experience. Challenger Middle School has the only PTSA that actively includes students along with teachers and parents. Our students are a vital part of the program. They are given an active voice on the board and run the student store under adult supervision. Your membership donation helps promote activities such as the student store, the Reflections Program, and speakers for special school-wide assemblies. This year we want to do even more!
Membership is Only $7.00!
Silver Membership is $15 and Gold Membership is $20

A membership envelope will be sent home. Everyone, including students, parents, grandparents, teachers, staff members and community members, are welcome to join! Please have your student return the membership envelope to his/her advisory teacher.

The Launch Pad - Student Store

We need parent volunteers to help supervise the student helpers store during lunch. Please leave a message for Sabrina Bazzo at 858-586-7001 if you are interested in assisting with this program.

Students may purchase snacks and school supplies at The Launch Pad, a student store sponsored by the PTSA. After student volunteers are chosen through an application process and trained in store procedures, The Launch Pad will be open every day at lunch. These helpful students are supervised by some great parent volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helps to keep this popular attraction open!

Reflections Program

The 2010-2011 theme is "Together We Can..."

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education.

The Reflections Program was established in 1969 by National PTA board member Mary Lou Anderson. Since that time, more than 10 million students have participated in the program. The program's longevity and participation figures attest to its strength. The excitement and enthusiasm that the program generates for children, parents, schools and communities is unmatched.

Participation and appreciation for the arts is the Reflections Program's goal. Although the Reflections Program follows a "contest" format, winning should not be the emphasis.

Participation in the Reflections Program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to create art that supports a specific theme.

Students may submit an entry in any of the six arts areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted.

Students are encouraged to create an original piece of artwork in one of six categories:
Musical Composition Literature
Dance Choreography Visual Arts
Film/Video Production Photography
Check with your child's teacher for applications and entry criteria.
