News and Announcements

The First Day of School is September 7th

Read to learn how it all works on the first day. Try to be here by 7:00 a.m. to find your first room.

Students should arrive a little early on the first day of school; we suggest by 7:00 a.m.  Remember that we have about 400 new students and parents attending the school.  Traffic is probably going to be congested as people learn about the area and traffic patterns.  Plan ahead and set the alarm clock a little early.

Once students arrive on campus, flyers and maps will be given to students.  Look at the flyer or one of the signs posted at the front of the campus to determine which classroom your student will need to go to first.  It will be based on your child's last name.  Starting at 7:15 a.m., we will have a special ten minute class distribution period and then we will resume the regularly scheduled day.

Students will receive a packet of forms and information during advisory on the first day of school.  This packet will also include the free/reduced lunch application.  Please review the contact card information to update your address and phone numbers.  It is very important that the forms be completed and returned within the first week of school.

Students will receive a student planner on the second day of school.  This is an organizational tool between the student, the parent, and the school.  Both parents and students must read the first fourteen pages of Challenger's rules and policies.  You will find answers to many of your questions about the school in that book.

Students are asked to write down their homework assignments each day.  Parents are asked to review and sign their student's planner each week.  If your student's planner is blank on a day to day basis, please ask your student to complete the planner.  Every student has homework assignments even if it just reading thirty minutes a day.  Students can also include test dates, tutoring days, and other important information such as important phone numbers.  Advisory teachers will check the planners to make sure students and parents are completing the planner.
